Phantom Blade Zero contains over twenty Phantom Edges—special weapons and abilities that function as spells and signature skills. These tools shape your playstyle, unlock hidden areas, and determine combat effectiveness. Some deal pure damage, others heal or summon allies, while many open sealed paths to valuable rewards and previously inaccessible regions.
Early-Game Phantom Edges
The Dread Axe becomes available after defeating Peng Meng, The Axemaster, in Weeping Creek Valley just north of the Outpost Bell. This weapon excels at breaking shields and features a charged attack that can reach two stages, with higher charges dealing more damage and consuming one Remnant Spark. Beyond combat, the Dread Axe breaks iron chains blocking paths even when unequipped, making it essential for exploration.
The Feather Bow requires finding a Broken String Bow from a chest near the Ruthless Archer Camp Bell on Weeping Creek Valley's northwest side. Bring it to the man on the Outpost encampment roof for repairs. Once fixed, the bow charges for increased damage against full-health enemies and shoots down hanging objects from distance without being equipped.
Hunter's Chain Sickle drops from defeating The Hunt, Weeping Creek Valley's final boss near the Great Waterfall Bell. This mid-to-long-range weapon performs up to three slashing combos, with the blade dealing full damage while the chain deals thirty percent. A full combo costs one Remnant Spark. The sickle grapples onto distant anchor points for traversal even when unequipped, opening previously unreachable areas.
Iron Gauntlets come from defeating Stone Hand Iron Fever, a hidden boss south of the Mirrowood Entrance Bell in Crimson Forest. These gauntlets break shields and build Fist Focus with each attack, increasing main weapon damage for eight seconds once full. Up to three fist attacks consume one Remnant Spark per combo.
Mid-Game Weapon Acquisitions
The Flying Dagger requires locating Quick Hand Zhang's hideout in Crimson Forest west of the Thieve's Camp Bell, then collecting his three lost treasures scattered throughout the region. Once obtained, pressing R2 unleashes up to three ranged volleys of throwing knives, with a full combo consuming one Remnant Spark.
Bastion unlocks after defeating Zhuo BI, The Gatekeeper, near the start of Village of Lu. This shield weapon withstands any attack, absorbing damage and channeling it into powerful counterattacks. Hold R2 to raise it and block all enemy attacks, tap L1 to shove enemies away, or release R2 before Sha-Chi depletes to slam the shield into the ground for a shockwave. Bastion blocks repeating crossbow bolts even when unequipped, allowing access to previously sealed areas.
Kuye Temple Prayer Beads, a summoning Phantom Edge, drops from defeating optional boss Master BI Hai near the Smuggler's Tunnel Entrance Bell in Village of Lu. Speak to the injured NPC by the locked door, then return to the nearby body of water to start the fight. This weapon summons three Fist Bronze Men that fight for fifteen seconds or until defeated, consuming two Remnant Sparks and replacing any existing summons.
Heartrend Pipa comes from defeating Yuzan, No. 3 Musician Puppet, in the Puppet Testing Grounds near the end of Village of Lu. This weapon releases sonic blades sharp enough to cut through anything. Pressing R2 repeatedly unleashes two blue sonic blades and one red sonic blade per combo, consuming one Remnant Spark. Blue blades deal damage and inflict Sha-Chi Depletion while remaining unblockable; red blades deal increased damage, ignore all damage reduction, and cannot be blocked.
Pangzhen Region Phantom Edges
Wolfjaw unlocks by defeating Wu Xuan, The Fallen General, west of the Backstreet Archway Bell in Pangzhen. This weapon drains life from enemies on hit, with holding R2 creating sweeping attacks and releasing triggering a final strike that restores HP. However, it has no effect on Puppets, Golden Bodies, or Phantom Bodies, and consumes one Remnant Spark.
Fire Meteor drops from defeating Blaze, Shadow Warden Captain, north of the South Gate Bridge Bell near Pangzhen's start—encountered naturally during main story progression. This mid-to-long-range weapon performs up to three swinging attacks with Phosphor Flames that ignite enemies, consuming one Remnant Spark per full combo. Green flames deal damage and reduce enemy attack power.
You Loong's Deluge comes from defeating optional boss You Loong, Leader of the Blackwater Crew, in a body of water on Pangzhen's northwestern side near the Lion Dance Hall Bell. This water-based weapon proves especially effective against fire-wielding enemies. Holding R2 sprays a high-pressure water jet that continuously consumes Remnant Sparks. All attacks apply Wet, making enemies more vulnerable to Lightning and Ice damage. The weapon removes fire blocking certain paths, enabling progression through previously inaccessible areas.
Thunder Spear unlocks after defeating Chang Hong, a main boss in Pangzhen encountered during main quest progression. Pressing R2 repeatedly performs up to three Thunderclap Spear Art strikes, consuming one Remnant Spark per full combo. Attacks inflict Paralysis and unleash lightning from all directions.
Goldblaze requires finding Quick Hand Zhang's hideout in Pangzhen and collecting all his hidden treasures throughout the region. Pressing R2 fires from range, with repeated presses continuing the firing sequence and consuming one Remnant Spark. This weapon deals increased damage to full-health enemies.
Flaming Mane unlocks in Pangzhen after defeating Flame, The Mask-Bound Lion Dance Grandmaster, and its second phase during main story progression. First obtain the Dormant Flaming Mane story item, then bring it to an NPC in Pangzhen for repairs—the game marks this location. Holding R2 unleashes a flame stream dealing damage and igniting enemies while continuously consuming Remnant Sparks. This weapon burns damp brambles, allowing access to blocked-off areas and making it one of the game's most useful Phantom Edges.
Late-Game and Optional Weapons
Bashpole comes from defeating optional boss Wan Jun, The Coppermaul, near the center of Mandate Encampment—accessible by destroying a chained gate with the Dread Axe. This high shield-breaking weapon holds R2 to whirl in wide sweeping attacks and releases to finish with a ground-shaking slam, consuming one Remnant Spark. Beyond combat, Bashpole smashes wooden planks covering sealed ground, revealing underground areas.
Swordsman's Summon drops from defeating hidden boss Chief Disciple, Sword of Despair, near burning towers in Mandate Encampment. Pressing R2 summons one Swordsman Captain and two Swordsman Disciples that fight for up to fifteen seconds or until defeated, consuming two Remnant Sparks. Summoning again replaces existing summons.

Loong Trident unlocks after defeating optional boss You Loong, The Frenzied Blackwater Crew Leader, on Meigu Lake's center island. This throwable weapon can be launched long distances by holding R2 to charge then releasing. It deals increased damage to full-health enemies and applies Wet to all attacks, increasing damage enemies take from Lightning and Frost, consuming one Remnant Spark per throw.
Puppeteer's Bell comes from defeating hidden boss Dusk, The Puppeteer, in northeast Village of Lu. First find all Memory Flowers in the area to remove the barrier, then proceed to the pit's bottom. Pressing R2 summons one Sword-and-Shield Puppet and one Spear-and-Shield Puppet that fight for fifteen seconds and cannot stack, consuming two Remnant Sparks.
Endgame Phantom Edges
Ink Cut unlocks after completing the Heroe's Lament quest in Mountain of Imprisonment, a hidden region accessed by finding all pipa parts for the Illusory Pipa quest. Start the side quest by speaking to the man near the broken lift, then find the Moji Sword in one of the hanging cages on the main path. Return the sword to the quest giver for the Ink Cut. Pressing R2 repeatedly performs up to three mid-range sword attacks, consuming one Remnant Spark per combo. Ending the combo after the second attack leaves a spinning blade that continuously damages enemies for five seconds before detonating.
Flying Guillotine drops from defeating Huangxing, The Kunlun Renegade, the Mountain of Imprisonment chapter boss in a far-north building. This high shield-breaking weapon performs up to three mid-range execution attacks, consuming one Remnant Spark per combo. When enemies can be executed, press R2 for a ranged execution. Like other Metroidvania-style Phantom Edges, it unlocks specific locations—check your map after obtaining it to find newly accessible areas.
Inanis' Radiant Fan unlocks by completing the Whence the Weeping quest, which begins early but cannot finish until reaching Meigu Lake, one of the final regions. Collect all pipa pieces for the Illusory Pipa quest—these are map-marked—then use the complete pipa on the clouded gate on Meigu Lake's north island. This leads to a new realm where speaking to Inanis grants the Radiant Fan. Pressing R2 creates a field lasting twenty seconds where HP and Sha-Chi gradually recover, consuming two Remnant Sparks.
One-Eyed Bow comes from defeating optional boss One-Eyed Archer on Meigu Lake's eastern island. Dock onto the island and progress to its center to trigger the fight. Holding R2 charges while moving, then release to fire an arrow consuming one Remnant Spark. This weapon deals increased damage to full-health enemies.
Tiger Cannon unlocks in Mirage Estate, one of the final regions, by defeating Lei Dang, The Fire Cannon—a mandatory boss impossible to miss. Holding R2 charges the cannon up to three stages, with higher stages dealing more damage and consuming one Remnant Spark. This weapon ignites explosive objects and shatters frozen enemies. After obtaining it, visit old regions to progress through blocked-off areas marked with the Tiger Cannon icon.
