The Blood of Dawnwalker, Rebel Wolves' debut action role-playing game, features numerous side quests scattered throughout the valley of Vale Sangora, many of which are easily overlooked or missed if players become sidetracked with other objectives. Players must complete certain quests within a 30 in-game day window to access them. One early-game side quest worth pursuing is Echoes of the Silenced Bells, which involves Anca, a witch and teacher to the protagonist Coen, and uncovers dark secrets hidden within a cursed convent.

Journey to St. Tyna's Convent
To begin this quest, travel south from Laslea to the Crossroads Inn immediately after Coen leaves the village. Meet Anca there and accompany her to the nearby St. Tyna's Convent, which has been engulfed in supernatural fog since Brencis seized control of the valley. The quest is best started during nighttime hours, as Coen's vampiric abilities prove far more effective for exploration and combat than his daytime witchcraft skills. The path to the convent requires traversing through a swamp before reaching the entrance.

Upon arrival, Anca hears women singing "Lumen Verum" and rushes through the convent's gate, hoping to reunite with old friends. Instead, she encounters an undead nun harvesting skulls from a tree. This triggers the first of many battles against zombie-like nuns, with Anca providing ranged hexes as support. After defeating this creature, players can briefly examine its corpse before it rises again and forces both characters to flee into a nearby building while pursued by a horde of reanimated nuns.
Clearing the Convent's Courtyard
To allow Anca safe passage to the library, Coen must clear the courtyard of undead nuns. His vampiric powers become essential here—he can teleport directly onto the chapel roof and enter through a hole in the structure. Within the chapel, players can study murals depicting St. Tyna's history. For additional lore, players who venture into the chapel during daylight can compel the soul of a dead nun near St. Tyna's resting place to learn what happened to the convent during the black plague.
Across from the chapel entrance lies the convent's infirmary. Players must sneak past undead nuns to reach a back window where several of Brencis' soldiers are trapped, searching for St. Tyna's amulet. A choice presents itself here: hand over the amulet in exchange for safe passage to the library, or ignore the soldiers and find an alternate route. South of the courtyard, players will discover the dormitories, sacristy, and caretaker's shed. This area contains the monastery keys and St. Tyna's amulet, both necessary for accessing the bell tower.
At the tower's top, Coen can ring the bell to direct the undead nuns in three different ways. The bell can summon all nuns to return to the chapel, return to their dormitories, or enter the infirmary. If players choose the infirmary option, the nuns will break through and kill all trapped soldiers, allowing Coen to keep St. Tyna's amulet without negotiation. After this, ringing the bell to send nuns to their dormitories grants Anca safe passage through the courtyard, infirmary, and into the library.
Descending into the Catacombs
Inside the library, Anca directs Coen to a secret section blocked by a bookshelf. There they discover that someone has taken books on the supernatural into the convent's catacombs. After fighting through additional undead nuns in the underground passages, Coen and Anca discover the source of the outbreak: Leonica, Anca's former friend. Following Anca's excommunication and the plague's devastation, Leonica turned to forbidden knowledge, making a demonic pact to resurrect her fallen sisters.
Leonica incapacitates Anca and engages Coen in a boss battle. This encounter requires careful pacing, as Leonica wields both a surgical knife and witchcraft hexes. Her arsenal includes summoning waves of spikes that fly toward Coen, teleporting across the arena, calling murders of crows for ranged attacks, unleashing a spiked repulse when Coen approaches too closely, and raising undead nuns to fight alongside her whenever one of her health bars depletes. Players must manage multiple threats simultaneously while maintaining distance and timing their attacks.
The Quest's Resolution
After defeating Leonica, players face a consequential choice. They can either prevent Anca from finishing Leonica's ritual by burning her notes, which leaves the undead nuns cursed to wander the earth eternally, or hand the notes to Anca and allow her to complete the ritual, granting the nuns' souls peace and causing their bodies to vanish from the convent. The decision carries weight: players attempting to romance Anca should choose the latter option, as it aligns with her character arc and relationship development.
Regardless of which choice players make following Leonica's defeat, the quest Echoes of the Silenced Bells concludes and seamlessly transitions into Anca's next personal quest, Between the Words. This progression ensures that completing this side quest naturally advances Anca's storyline and deepens her connection to Coen's journey through Vale Sangora.
